VET Student Loans – Important Information for GTI Students  Global Training Institute (RTO 31192) is approved to offer VET Student Loans (VSL) for selected Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications. This page explains what a VSL is, who is eligible, the fees involved, and your responsibilities as a student.    What is a VET Student Loan? A VET Student Loan is a loan from the Australian Government that helps eligible full-fee-paying students pay their tuition fees for approved courses.   Loan Fee (20%)  A 20% loan fee applies to all VSLs for full-fee-paying students.  Example: Tuition fee: $7,680 Loan fee (20%): $1,536 Total VSL debt: $9,216  The loan fee does not count toward your HELP loan limit.  Loan Fee Exemption: The 20% loan fee does not apply if you are subsidised by a state or territory government for the same course.    HELP Loan Limit & HELP Balance  The loan you can access is the lower of: - the loan cap for your course, and - your remaining HELP balance  Check your balance via myHELPbalance.    Eligibility Summary  To access a VET Student Loan, you must meet all eligibility requirements:  Citizenship / Residency You must be: - an Australian citizen, OR - a qualifying New Zealand Special Category Visa holder, OR - a permanent humanitarian visa holder residing in Australia while studying  Age - Must be 18 years or older  Academic Suitability Provide one of the following: - Australian Year 12 certificate, OR - AQF Certificate IV or higher, OR - Approved LLN assessment at ACSF Exit Level 3 or above  Other Requirements - Verified USI - TFN (provided to Government through eCAF) - Meet GTI digital literacy requirements - Have enough available HELP balance    How to Apply for a VET Student Loan 
  1. Complete your GTI enrolment and provide eligibility evidence
  2. Complete LLN and digital literacy checks (if required) 
  3. GTI submits your Loan application; you receive an eCAF link from the Government 
  4. Submit your eCAF no sooner than two business days after enrolment and before your first census day 
  5. GTI confirms your enrolment and provides course access 
Your Responsibilities During the Course  To continue receiving a VSL, you must: - keep your contact details up to date - stay engaged with your course - complete assessments as required - check your email for VSL notices - complete VSL progression forms when requested  The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations will contact you via email/SMS during your course to verify your enrolment and progression. Failure to complete progression forms may result in cancellation of your loan.    Census Days  A census day is the last day you can withdraw from that part of your course without incurring a VSL debt. - Fees are split across sequential fee periods, each with a census day - Your Statement of Covered Fees lists fee periods and census dates - Full census information is in GTI’s Tuition Schedule    Withdrawals & Refunds  If you withdraw on or before the census day for a fee period: - you will not incur a VSL debt for that part of the course - any tuition paid for that period will be refunded - no withdrawal fees apply  To withdraw, submit GTI’s withdrawal form.  If you withdraw after census day, you will incur a VSL debt unless: - - special circumstances apply; AND - you are granted a re-credit of your HELP balance under the VSL Act    Tuition Protection  If GTI cannot continue delivering your course, you will: - be placed in a replacement course, OR - receive a re-credit of your HELP balance  This is provided under VET Student Loans Tuition Protection arrangements.    Complaints & Appeals  If you have a concern: 
  1. Raise it with GTI 
  2. Lodge a formal complaint if required
