VET Student Loans is available to entitled students, regardless of age or financial position. The HELP Loan Limit is the maximum an eligible student can borrow from VET Student Loans. If you have not used up your limit then you can apply for VET Student Loans for the qualification you are looking to complete.

HELP repayments are begun through the taxation system once your income is above the compulsory threshold. The compulsory repayment threshold is adjusted each year. So you do not start paying your loan until you earn more than the threshold and it is then paid back through the tax system.

A 20% loan fee applies to students receiving VET Student Loans assistance. The loan fee is added to your VET Student Loans debt. Students in a Reform State or Territory will not incur a loan fee – Victoria is the only Reform State or Territory for the purposes of VET Student Loans.
